64th Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony: A Complete Look

Bringing another year's showcase to an end, Jury President Robert De Niro presided over the closing ceremony of the 64th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France on Sunday (May 22).

The highly acclaimed actor happily dished out trophies to this year's winners, as he presented Kirsten Dunst with the Prix de l'Interpretation Feminine (best female) award while doting the Prix de l'Interpretation Masculine (best actor) honors upon Jean Dujardin.

Meanwhile, the Terrence Malick directed film starring Brad Pitt titled "The Tree of Life" took top honors by earning the coveted Palme d'Or accolade as stars including Jude Law, Uma Thurman and Ryan Gosling happily partook in the festivities.

Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Kirsten Dunst was spotted at the photo call for “Melancholia” in Canes today (May 18).

The “Crazy/Beautiful” babe looked lovely in a yellow dress as she posed outside the Palais des Festivals as part of the 64th Cannes Film Festival.

“Melancholia” is about a bride who learns that a planet is headed for earth just after her wedding in Sweden.

And the cast is somewhat of an ensemble, as Kiefer Sutherland, Stellan Sarsgard, Alexander Sarsgard, Charlotte Giansbourg, and Udo Kier all star.

Kirsten Dunst Premieres “Melancholia” in Cannes

She’s been living it up at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and Kirsten Dunst was the center of attention at the Palais des Festivals “Melancholia” premiere on Wednesday (May 18).

The “Bring It On” babe looked gorgeous in a designer gown as she worked it for the cameras on the red carpet alongside a heavily pregnant Charlotte Gainsbourg, as well as actress Jodie Foster, rocker Ronnie Wood and his lady Ana Araujo.

During the film’s press conference earlier in the day, “Melancholia” director Lars von Trier made some rather inappropriate comments causing Dunst to squirm in her seat.

Joking about the next project he plans to make with Kirsten, Lars told, “She wants a really really hard core film this time and I am doing my best ... we just want to have a lot of very unpleasant sex and thats what I am writing right now and it is going to be three or four hours long.”

Telling the story of "two sisters who find their relationship challenged as a nearby planet threatens to collide into the Earth," Miss Dunst's new movie is set to hit theaters in the States on November 4th of this year.

Kirsten Dunst has revealed that she is writing her own stage musical.

The How To Lose Friends And Alienate People star told The News Of The World she has already started on the theatrical work.

"I started to write a musical a few years ago and I'm going to get back into writing it. But I'm not going to say what it's about though," she said.
